Will manual 88 crx hf transmission fit a 97 civic ex
ive searched hardcore for this topic and I havent found anything...someone help
My 97 civic ex has some tranny problems i need to replace the transmission for a while. until i can fix up the stock one. I have a friend with a 88 crx hf transmission "cable clutch" and i want to know how hard it would be to make that fit my civic "hydrolic clutch"
Im almost possitive everythign will fit rigth but i dont know about the flywheel clutch and crap.
basical.. will it fit without to much problem? what woudl i have to do

i was told that all D series trannys at least at the flywheel, can bolt together. anyone conform this? at least all hydro d series bolt together?
It's a pain in the *** to get it to work. Not only is the HF the longest transmission in the world, but you'd also have to get the cable to hydro conversion kit. Just find a 92-00 civic hydraulic transmission.
cool i was just trying to go cheap and convienient. and migth use the crx trnasmission just for the fun of learning.. thanks everyone any eg trannys for sale

Good luck with it if you do decide to use it. You'll be wasting time and money IMHO. You can find a decent y7 transmission dirty cheap (I'll be selling mine to a local member of HT for 25 dollars as soon as I throw on my Y8 tranny) and you won't have to bother with the cost of the hydro/cable conversion kit (which can cost as much as a decent Y8/5th gen si/ex tranny, that have the shortest gearing for a 92-00).
I have a y8 tranny for sale, and I live only about an hour away.
if your interested, email or IM me (i've PMed you with the info)
I'm sure we can work something out.

Please don't use it. Get a Y8 tranny. If you really want fuel economy, find a 96-00 DX trans that will bolt right up.

You would also have to use a differn't clutch disk as the sline count is different. But it would be tight to cut a hole in your hood and setup a loop and pully system to the cable arm on that tranny. That way you could just pull a rope to disengage the clutch. It would be like lifting weights when driving.
