Default Question on Rear difusers.

I hear all these claims that they give you 3mph on your 1/4mi mph's. BUt whats the real truth to them. I have a gutted eg hatch with a semi built ls/vtec running 13.4's and Im trying to do any kind of exterior and weight reduction mods to put me in the low 13's high 12's without touching the motor again. So far I have just the interior gutted and was thinking of maybe drilling out some big holes on my rear bumper to act as a difuser. BTW: this is just a track/weekend car so I dont care about looks.

Some people do it for intimidation also, I did it to my Civic, cut 3inch holes in the back of my bumper, just go to a hardware store and buy a drill bit that they sell for making holes in doors so you can put a handle in it, not sure what the exact description of the item is but yeah, thats what I did, ill see if I can find some pics to show.

I dont doubt that it could be beneficial in every application. But 3 tenths isnt reasoable on a lower hp car.

I think its effects would increase w/ trap speed. A car moving 130mph is catching more air than one trapping at 90mph.

I wisih someone would make one that goes under the bumper so u ddint have to drill

Well I cut-drilled my rear bumper, I can honestly say the first day I did it I noticed a difference, same as covering all the holes in the front bumper..

For street cars, just get the VX one. Engineered by Honda so you know it works and all bolt on affair.

I bought the golden eagle piece; it works like a diffuser should, and doesn't look half bad.
