Are Yokohama A032R's any good for drag?
Just wondering if A032R's with 12.5 lbs wheels any good for drags?
If we use them do we still have to lower the tire pressure?
Thanks

what are those road racing tires? If so I believe they wont be good for drag racing for two reasons....they have a harder compound and stiffer sidewall than drag tires. However I believe they should still be better than ordinary radials though.
I had a buddy who drag raced a 91 GT Stang on stock car slicks. They were better than radials but it was obvious that drag racing was not their intended purpose

Ok.. I have A032RS H compound and A048 SS compound..
The A048's just don't have the bite for for drag racing because the sidewalls are too stiff. I drove my buddies 180SX with the S compound and he had the same traction problems as me. Now the A048's are totally different story. I used high tire PSI @ 14psi for my last drag race and tehse tires hooked up awesome when the car was launched correctly. I even drove them on the street during a light rain and the A048's still had BLOODY AWESOME traction. I will be trying 10psi at the next meet in Feb.
Get A038 or A048 S or SS compound instead of A032. I use my A032's for street and touge runs because A048 SS compound 215/50-15 get expensive at $150 each.
Oh yeah.. I run 2~2.2bar (29~32psi) of tire pressure for normal street use.

I wouldn't waste them for drag race, just get some drag tire for drag race. As for A048, I have the M compound one and it grip a lot in both wet and dry. But I only tried it once in drag racing, and it is not much better than my 10% left SP9000, but I only tried it on one run.
The A048's grip hella times better than the Shitto 555R's! Hopefully my 225/50-15 Goodyear Drag radials will arrive before the next race.

I'm going to get a set of A032R's for AutoX so I was wondering if its good to use for drag too.
If not, I'll just use my street tires or POS stock Michelins.

the AO32R just do NOT hook up off the line... plus I suck at launching.
-they are incredible for the twisties, but they cant hang well at the strip.
USE your michelins, definitely.
if you use the AO32R at the strip, you will waste them in noo time. that one night at the drags with 6 or 7 runs took a lot of tread, stickyness and life out of my poor AO32R's.. I completely regret using them that way... too much wheelspin killed 'em. and theyre NOT cheap either!
