Just bought S2k, have questions, searched already...
Hi guys,
i'm the new proud owner of an '05 s2k Silverstone metallic with red/black interior... 11 miles on the clock. This is my first "new" car!! i'm very excited. I chose the extended warranty (7years 100k miles)... thought it was a good idea for $1250. I'm aware of honda's suggestion on break-in; i.e., keep it under 5500 rpm for the first 600 miles. I was wondering if anyone knows if any performance/reliability gains are to be had by doing something different, or breaking in the car in a different manner. I plan on keeping the car forever, so steer me right. thanks!

opinions on the proper break in differ so much. i personally would be nice for a 100-200 miles, then redline. there are some that won't redline until 1000 miles. but in general from what i have seen,
long term - break in the honda way
stronger motor but less life - redline it from day 1
i am not sure if those are true but its what i have seen

congratulations on your new S2k. be easy with it. no sustained full throttle running. let it warm up some before you go. dont drive the same speed all the time. stay out of v-tech for the break in period. change the oil at 3-4k. use a honda oil filter, dont use synthetic oil for 10k.. no hard braking for first 300miles. check your oil level every time you drive it. and always when doing a lot of v-tech ing
make sure you have 3 bars on your temp guage before you drive it hard.. and after driving it hard to vteching a lot, check your oil...

so that the cylinder wall wont be smooth like a baby's bottom
... you need those tiny micro scratches to hold the oil ...

Wouldn't they delete cruise control if this was the case?

no, because this is mostly for the break in period.. you shouldnt use cruise control while on your break in period.. after you break her in, she has her scores on the cyl. walls, so she'll be good to go

don't fret over the constant speed thing, just drive the car normally after 600 miles, rev'ing it to redline. There's nothing special you need to do, drive the car and welcome!
