Default Automatic to Manual Tansmission Conversion

I have had my 95 LS 4-door automatic for a little over 6 and I am looking at the cost of swapping it to a manual. I know the typical response "sell it and get a manual... jackass." But I have so much invested in this car. Besides the fact that i absolutely love it. It has an JDM B16A head/valves/pistons (11.2-1 compression), skunk 2 intake manifold, DC header, Custom test pipe mounted to a Apex'i N1 Muffler, Apex'i V-AFC, Apex'i WS coilovers, Top Fuel intake and various DC sports and Mugen doodads under the hood. I wanna hit the block hard next summer with a manual tranny, turbo, and put my JDM front clip on( it has been sitting in the garage for 6 days and I am still reeling). Please help me with your infintie wisdom.

-Thanx

This thread details what you will need and the guy who replied lives in WA, so maybe he can help out.

Do a search in the Integra forum and overall for 'Manual Conversion' under Archived Content, I came up with 218 results.

Do the transmission swap. It's very much worth it! Total costs can range, from 1000-1800, depends on how much you get your parts, and who does the swap. Typically, if you buy the parts locally, an LS tranny ranges from 350-500 bucks. GS-R trannys range from 500-650 or so. You might be lucky, and get one for cheap. For instance, i got mine from a private seller for 350. You'll also need a clutch kit, flywheel, shift linkage w/pin, shifter, pedal assembly, clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, hydraulic lines, transmission mount, starter, 5 speed cluster (optional) and a 5 speed ecu. But since you're car is a 95, like mine, you can get the ecu wired to make it a 5 speed. Also, your STOCK AUTOMATIC AXLES WILL WORK, however, you need a 5 speed half shaft.

If you need any more help, give me a PM. There are a few of us guys from TI that have recently finished the swap.

I also did mine....I was very happy with the results.

Just to add a little to the above post. A 5-speed ECU is optional, or you can just "rewire it" like Nin5IntegraLS said. If you don't rewire it, you will simply throw a code 1660 for the Automatic shift solenoid. Your car will run fine, regardless.

To be more specific, you need an UPPER transmission mount. I believe there are a couple companies out now that have this available. Back when I did mine, I had to fabricate it.

A 5-speed center console is also optional. The 5-speed ones and automatic ones are actually different. But with minimal/easy customizing, you can make your automatic one work just fine. I did.

It's good that you mentioned the 5-speed starter being needed. Many people forget this and assume the automatic one works. It is the same size and looks VERY similar and it is. However, the bolt holes are just a TINY bit off.

Just to ask....are you sure you can use your automatic driver's side axle? When I did mine (it was a while ago, so I forgot), I thought the automatic driver's side was the "long" axle. If I remember correctly, I think I had to get a 5-speed driver's side axle plus the half shaft/intermediary shaft.
