What are the stock spring rates on the ITR?

 

This is from memory, but I'm pretty sure it's:

247 lbs/in linear up front
up to 247 lbs/in progressive in back

Any idea what that is in kg/mm? (my math skills are long, long forgotten...)

 

4.3 kg/mm?

 

247 lb/in * .453 kg/lb * 25.4 mm/in = 2.8kg/mm if I didn't screw up, which is entirely possible.

4.4 kg/mm (I think).

 

247 lb/in x 1 kg/2.2 lb x 1 in. /25.4 mm = 247/ 55.88 = 4.42 kg/mm

Not that Sport Compact Car is ever accurate or anything but in the March 2001 issue they did the cars of Speedvision Touring Car including the Realtime ITRs and there they stated stock ITR spring rates were 225 lb/in. front and 180 lb/in. or for us metric countries (which is not the US and the UK) 4.03 kg/mm front and 3.22 kg/mm rear.

The Realtime ITRs were claimed to be using 800 lb/in. (14.3 kg/mm) front and 1200 lb/in. (21.5 kg/mm) rear....like Jerome Zimmerman is going to tell them exactly what spring rates they use. When I talked to Roger Foo at Mosport, he even told me they got the story on how much his Civic costs all wrong....oh well....

does anyone know if our cars has the 96spec or 98 spec springs?
96 spec = 4.3kg/mm
98 spec = 4.4kg/mm

I'm assuming it's the 96 spec b/c we have the 96spec rear sway bar.
