TA Seats In A Civic
Having owned a trans am i love the five way adjustable leather seats. I havnt taken any measurments but i think i am goin to attempt to swap them outa my buddies totaled ram air into my EX. My question is if i make a design for some new brackets where could i take this to be made, my machine shop maybe?? What else should i consider and take note of when tryin to attempt this swap? Would it be difficult to hook up the seat electronics as well?
A fixed placement bracket wouldn't be that hard to fab yourself. You'd need access to a break, welder, and drill press though.
As for electronics, you will probably have to set up a closed circuit off the battery, with fuses and such. I'm not good at that stuff, so I can't tell you how to do it, but I would suggest finding an EE or ETech student at a local college, and giving him 20 bucks to design a system for it.
And what you should consider and note: Measure, measure, and then measure again. And then do the last sentence again. Make the design as simple as possible, because with all fab work, no matter what you have on paper, it's going to be at least slightly different then what you end up with, so you'll need to be able to adjust slightly, easily.
