Default EDM SiR Gauges into USDM CRX

I bought a set of 90-91 EDM SiR Gauges and I wanna put them in my 89 CRX DX... Everyone says they were just plug and play. They are, but nothing works. No tach, no speedo.. When I move the light dimmer my oil lights comes on. When I turn my brights on my CEL goes awaay ( ecu isnt throwing any codes )..

Does anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram of a USDM CRX gauges and an EDM SiR cluster? Or has anyone attempted this swap and knows whats the deal?

There isn't an EDM SiR.

This only works if the clip is up, .Start from right to left on the plug, left to right on the list.

8pin plug
blk - yel/red - grn/blk - blu/red - empty - yel/wht - yel - grn/yel

12pin plug
grn/blu - red/blu - yel/grn - blk/red - yel/red - empty - grn/orng - empty - blu/yel - blk/yel - wht/blu - blu

The red wire is for the dimmers, there is no dimmer for the edm... Just leave it unplugged. On the dimmer switch de pin the red and the black wires, and join them, this way your lights will stay at max brightness.

The 89 si hazard plug switch was different on the 89 si harness, so I will have to head out to the parts yard for this piece.

Also, the 90-91 brackets that hold the cluster in place are needed. I didnt have them either, so I am just going to pick them up at the same time as the switch.

I just cut the tops off the brackets, it works great temporarily, its that its just held in place by one bolt, not 2. So I will pick up the 90-91's eventually.

This was for my 89si, so it may help. I personally would just track each pin back to the proper location.

Ryan

PS, I dont have the door warning lights working, you can hook them to the hazard light, but I didnt want to wire them up.

I guess its a Vti cluster... I already have the little bracket peices I need.. I just need a wiring diagram of an 89 usdm crx dx and a 90-91 EDM crx VT-i...

As it is now nothing on the EDM gauges is working except the temp gauge

Thus, the speed-o isnt working, neither is vtec

Actually there IS NO SUCH THING AS A 2ND GEN CRX VT-i, there is the 1.6i-VT. VT-i was 92+ Civic's.

Now here is the info you need with LOTS of pictures.

For some reason now its throwing a code 17 ( VSS ) and I cant get into Vtec With my old cluster it wasnt throwing this code and I had no problems with vtec.. The weird thing is.. my Speedo is working just fine..

Ya it does, its on a dummy light.

OOPs, your in the Netherlands... 89 might not, i dunno

But in the US it does, and on the vt clusters it does as well...

Ya... Thats pretty much it... No CEL 17 anymore, but no vtec either. When I looked at the diagram on this site

http://www.angelfire.com/ca/DrOhm/SiRcluster.html

It saying that in A2 should be a VSS.. But the cluster is cable driven.. So I have a yel/red wire thats " no use " in there..

if the cluster is still cable driven, not like the JDM's.. then from that wire.. thats "useless", run it to the ECU and see what happens.

since the ECU doesn't see the wheels spin.. its not going to let you have VTEC.

I hoked back up my dx guages and everything worked fine.. Except the Ebrake light stays on after the the ebrake is down sometimes? Weird.. The wiring is fine and I have no loose connections. Im not worried. I have vtec again and it feels good

I wonder why it wouldnt work with the EDM cluster?
