Default y1 tranny. and sir axles

Ok from searing i know the y1 tranny has a longer intermediate shaft wich requires the use of sir axles or custom axles.

My question is can i use a teg intermediate shaft on the y1 so i can use 90-91 teg axles?

Yes you can use the 90-93 integra intermediate shaft. It should be stamped SK7. If you plan to use this intermediate shaft, you can use 90-93 integra axles.

Contrary to popular belief, the transmission you use has no bearinf whatsoever when it comes to axle fitment. After all, the Y1, S1, and J1 all use the exact same case! And althoigh the YS1 transmissions use a different case, axle fitment is identical to that with the earlier Y1, S1, and J1 transmissions. As for the Y1 intermediate shaft, this is typically something to avoid. Even with SIR axles (homemade or original), the Y1 shaft is sometimes too long (remember that mount kits place the engine closer to the driver's side than the engine is positioned in the SIR). So unless it came free with your swap, just get an S1 (1990-1993 Integra) intermediate shaft instead. It is typically the best to use.

As for the axles themselves, SIR axles are hands-down the best. They fit perfectly. And you need not remove the sealing rings on the knuckles. And if you cannot get ahold of them, you can make exact copies using the outer joints and shafts from a 1986-1989 Integra with the inner joints from a 1990-1993 Integra. Unaltered 1990-1993 Integra axles can be used. But sealing ring removal is required (and I don't particularly lie the idea of this, as I believe Honda put them there for a reason).
