Default Gauge Pod Fabrication

Before I get flamed, I did post this in fabrication and got (0) responses. I've tried searching pod setups and came up with a couple of really positive great ideas for where to place gauges. I'm trying to avoid my A-Pilar and I think the coin pocket on the EJ8 would be a great place to stick a gauge. Has anyone ever done it? I'm looking for help on what I should use as a filler. Plastic? Carbon Fiber? I'm brand new to DIY fabrication, just looking to do what others have not done before. Thanks ahead of time for the help and consideration. Posted below is a pic of the coin pocket, right of the stereo I am talking about. Thanks.

My friend made a little guage pod to sit right above the area you're asking about out of styrofoam to shape it, then fiberglassed over it. It came out really well.

they make a gauge pod to fit inside of the cluster area. it holds two 2"+- gauge. looks pretty clean.

I have seen that before, definitely a clean look, thanks for the post! I'm just trying to be a little more creative with gauge placement and I never use this pocket

had a friend do this in his ej also....didn't put any filler tho, just put the gauge in, turns it to him and that's it. i wouldn't even bother making it look pretty. what's the point?

What I plan on doing is putting 3 gauges where the radio and coin pocket are. I moved my radio down where the tape deck used to be. Here is a picture of what I plan on doing.

This picture was taken at the ej squad BBQ a couple months back. If this is your car and wish me to take it down, let me know. But this is the exact way I plan on setting up all of my gauges.(different gauges of course)

If you cut a piece of plastic to fit the whole it may be easier. Depending on how well you cut and match color it may look better as well.

I would start there and see how I liked it before I moved up to fiberglass or cf. Good luck

ok son lets be creative! take out your air bag (keep the cover thou) attach it down with a hinge so it swings open (opening toward you) and put a mechanical lift on it with a switch so you can open and close it at any point. then make a rack to hold a bunch of different gauges and things. its what mine has. with a 5 inch tv and two gauges.

all my friends like it cuz you never know its there. kinda sleeper like.

uhhhh sleeeeep.. mmmm

i know on the eg's where the flip down thingy next the the ciggeratte lighter is, would be a nice hide away spot for a psi gauge or oil pressure qauge.
