Beadblasting white TSW Revos??
I picked up a set of 17x7" TSW Revos in white from a friend a few weeks ago. I really cant complain of the condition, as I paid $250 for the rims, and a set of 205/40/17 with about 1000 miles on them, forget the manufacturer. One of them is bubbled, but meh, for 250 I cant complain, I'll either have it patched or just buy all new tires come spring.
Anyways, he had the wheels stored in his shed, and the shelf they were on gave way and scraped up the powdercoat on 2 of the rims, the other 2 are flawless. I have a dark green 98 EX sedan and really like the white on green, but I'm not sure yet. I was wondering if I was to have the wheels beadblasted clean of the powdercoat if they would be the same shade as the gunmetals, or a different shade of metal altogether? If they came out gunmetal, I might just have them cleaned up and clear coated. Otherwise, would you guys suggest having them re-powdered, or would I be better off having them auto painted and clear coated, I'd prefer whatever is more durable.

when you beadblast them, they will you like like the rattle can chrome/silver. Beadblasting reveals pure metal, no coating of any sort. If you want them gunmetal they will have to be repowdercoated
Er, gunmetal wasnt quite correct. If I have them blasted, will they look like the TSW's that arent painted, or will they be a different shade? I'll probably have them re-coated/painted, so which will be more durable, the powdercoat or paint? And which might be a cheaper alternative?
I wouldnt mind the look of the silver TSW's, but I really like the white on green as well.

They wont look like a fatory finish of any sort if thats what you're asking. You really can't understand until you try it first hand. First time I ever bead blasted anything my first thought was ''wtf'', but then i talked to the teacher about it and he said it was normal. It looks like silver rattle can after you're done. Powdercoating would most likely be the easiest way to go. Paintin requires alot of prep and primer where powdercoating is just bead blasting then whatever steps the P.C. put the object through. Should be somewhere around 200 for all 4 wheels powdercoated. I think P.C. is stronger too, not sure on that though.
I talked with someone on the board here who wanted $85 for each wheel done, not sure if that included prep as well, I believe it did.
I havent called around yet, but what are "general" costs on beadblasting? My friend told me you cant sandblast powdercoat, you have to beadblast it off? Btw, I'm not doing this myself, just getting an idea of what steps I should take to have them re-finished

Sorry I don't have access to AOL or Yahoo from this computer. I'll get you the name of the place that did my wheels. $50.00 included all prep work except dismounting the tires from the rim.
