question about AEM brake pads
I got a set of AEM brake pads a while ago. Just got around to trying to install them and of course they did not come with shims. The old set of shims on the old pads do not really fit the AEM pads. My question is, are they supposed to be shimless? or should I just hold the old shims to the AEM pads as I put the caliper back on? I know thats kind of what you have to do with most shims but these Really don't mate with the new pads at all.
I took a look at a few sets of brake pads from autozone just to see if any of them come with shims but they don't either. I was hoping to buy a cheap set and just steal the shims from them. and of course they don't have just shims at autozone.
The AEM pads are manufactured by nissin if that helps anyone.

I just installed Nissin (makes AEM) standard pads on my Civic. Do your new pads match the old ones ? If so the shims should fit. Some say you need shims ...some say with after market pads you do not. I do not have shims on mine. I used anti squeek lube on all of the pad contact points (clips, caliper piston etc) and I'm going on 200 miles with no noise or problems.
the new pads fit in the calipers but they don't have any indents for the shims to mate to. It just seemed sloppy to put them in like that. I'll probably roll with no shims then. thanks guys.
