Default Gauge Pod Fabrication

I've tried searching pod setups and came up with a couple of really positive great ideas for where to place gauges. I'm trying to avoid my A-Pilar and I think the coin pocket on the EJ8 would be a great place to stick a gauge. Has anyone ever done it? I'm looking for help on what I should use as a fillar. Plastic? Carbon Fiber? I'm brand new to DIY fabrication, just looking to do what others have not done before. Thanks ahead of time for the help and consideration. Posted below is a pic of the coin pocket, right of the stereo I am talking about. Thanks.

On the 96-98 civics there are a few places you can put gauges... You can do the following off the top of my head:

buy the Autometer pillars/gauge pods
buy the Autometer Dual Dash Bezel
Remove the Coin tray, and install 1 gauge there using a piece of ABS Plastic
Relocate the radio to the lower console, and put 3 gauges across.
Put gauges in the cupholders/lower console.

ABS Plastic is your friend.

Or Lexan. I use lexan, and then spraypaint the backside of it.

Any stereo shop should have it... Lexan/plexi can be bought at home depot.
