Default brakes not quite right.

ok. I have a 94 accord ls automatic no abs drums brakes in the back. my brakes seem to work fine under normal driving but when I am at a stoplight or stopsign when i hold the brakes, it seems to lose pressure and i will need to keep pushing further down just to keep the car from moving. by the time the car is fully stoped i am only a little bit from having the brake pedal to the floor. any suggestions?

sounds like your master cylinder may be going bad. if you pump the brake pedal does the pressure come back up and then drop again? if you dont see any leaks around the wheels and arent losing brake fluid on the ground then most likely it's your master.

Did you recently do brake work ? Maybe you just need to bleed them.

good point if you just had brake work done, the brake lines could have been exposed to air. if no brake work then what lvrudedude said. i would check the master.

i can almost guarantee it is a master cylinder failure. i had the exact same symptoms when mines failed, it's almost impossible for u to figure it out because the seals around the cylinder could be leaking as was my case.

i believe that particles in the brake fluid will tend to etch the master cylinder walls, seals, whatever and cause it to start leaking over time. i know this is highly technical, but i read this somewhere. anyways, i second the master cylinder being the problem.
