OT: Donation from the ITR community to Make a Wish & ACS

OT: Donation from the ITR community to Make a Wish & ACS
Okee dokee donation time is over. Well we did great guys, raised a total of $783.56, not too shabby 
I'm gonna split that in two and send out money orders to both ACS (http://www.cancer.org/docroot/home/index.asp) and MAW (http://www.wish.org). The donations will be made in memory of Thomas and Jody in the ITR Communities name
I'm gonna deposit the money from Paypal to my account tonight and will be sending the $$ out probably early next week. I'll let you guys know once the money has been sent.
Again the total collected was $783.56

Hi, I am Jody's Mom. I can't tell you how excited I was to hear about your offer to donate to MAW in his name. I am so touched that you guys remember him! He loved this site and talking to all of you. It helps his Dad and me, especially at this time of year, to know that his memory is being kept alive. Happy Holidays! Mom

How do the taxes work for donations? Do we get to deduct them/do we get a receipt?
