What is JL's Best?
It would depend on how much wattage you plan on using. I would first decide on how much I would pay for an amp and how much wattage it be and then choose the sub from there. This way you using the full potential of you equipment. Its no use to buy a W7 if your amp will only be about 300 watts rms, you wont be able to get the full output from the sub. Remember all you have to do is to match your components. Personally I'm going with a single 12W3v2 using a JL 400 watt mono amp

HA!.
i had a 10W7 in my integra powered by a 500/1 jl monoblock amp.
it was great, but let's just say it could have been a little louder.
(it was ported to optimal specs, so it was at near max output)
but i guess everyone's different.

I liked the w1 better....I still have a single 8W1 in my '55 and I have a buddy with a pair of 10W1's in a JL built bandpass box...for a bp, it sounded pretty darn good...at the time he ran it with a Punch 60ix

i never had a chance to listen to a W1. i used to have 2 10" jl w0 in a jl box. it was great for a while. then i moved to a single 12"w0 with a custom box. was it was great for a first woofer experience.
now and then, i come across some customers with a w0 and w3. it reminds me of my first.
now i listen to the new jl's... just crap. W7 is nice though.

Umm if I knew the amp specs and your goals I would be a lot more help. For something low power or with a cheap amp W0. If you want to shell out some money for an amp then you can move up in speakers. If you want something in the middle W3 is a good choice for you.
all depends on what your trying to do. i personally think the w3v2 is the best sounding sub that jl currently makes. w6's hit a lil harder and go deeper than the w3v2, but the w3v2 sounds all around better. and the w7 is a massive decent sounding spl sub. but the w3v2 still sounds the best. thats why you do like 3 or 4 of em, and then its on like donkey kong beeatch

which techie are you taking about?
one of the "techie" told me that the difference between the w6v2 and w7 is mainly output. the W7 has more output when driven to its limit.
And as far as actually sounding better, it shouldn't as JL said they basically share the same sonic characteristics.
though at higher volume, the w7 should be able to stay more linear than the w6v2 before inducing a bunch of distortion.

and per the JL website, W7 is their "SQL" sub.
my W7 was probably the best overall sub i've owned as far as SQ/SPL, excluding the fact that i got it at cost and it was still a lot of money for it.

I'm a JL authorized dealer.
The W6v2's are perfect SQ subs with more than enough output for 90% of my customers.
For those willing to spend thousands of dollars on their bass... by all means... get the W7's with a multi-thousand watt amp. More profit for me.
The W7 runners are usually my H2, Denali, or Escalade folks with money to burn.
Two 12W7's and a couple thousand watt amp = $2000.00. That more than some of our cars.
All my installers love the W6's. More economical (well compared to the W7's) and awesome performance.

It was run by the MTX amp. If you get the 12s are gay get the 13.5. If you wanna get the 12" look into Image Dynamics IDMAX those are badass they compare to the 13.5
I will be getting two for the civic
