looking to get an s2k, what should i look for? which is the best model to get?
ok...so before i buy a car, i usually do a little research on which is the best model to get, so i thought why not ask the pros here....anyone care to share their expiriences? i do a lot of road racing/autocross so i need something thatll suit those needs, which is the better model? the older 2.0 higher reving motor or the newer 2.2 lower reving motor. also as far as any and or specs/weak spots, any help is appreciated, thanks in advance

first off the 2.0 went to 9 grand and the 2.2 went to 8 grand so it by no means a low revving motor thats still very high, the first couple years had a plastic rear window, newer had glass, i hear very little bad things about the car, thats one of the reasons im getting one myself, ill let the owners chime in with more specific details

I also want to ask ya'll. I am in the market for the S2000. How is the convertable top from a 2000? Does it leak, discolor?
Well.....depending on who you ask. 
I've driven 04 model and my 03 back to back at a track event.
While pre 03 model feels much tighter in suspension, 04 was no slouch. Engine's mid range power and torque was noticibly different than 03. However, gearing of pre 04 models should be able to compensate the short coming of 2.0L engine.
I hate to make this pre 04 vs 04+ debate. But All I can say is that "S2000 is S2000" they are all awesome in my opinion.
As far as convertible top goes, there are a few known cases of torn soft-top cases. Where the hindges are on each side. Over time, open and close operation seems to wear out same spot on each side. Solution? Well, you can patch it from inside with thick fabric clued on to protect it from rubbing. 303 fabric cleaning solution could be used to clean your softtop.

we get this question like once a week at least.. well here it goes again...
you obviously know about the engine and yada yada....
the little differences... 00-01 trannys had a problem with the 1st and 2nd gear grind.... also they had problems with the taillights fading to pink... both of these are covered by honda.... they also have plastic rear window... the 01 however does not have a clock....00 also has a carpeted center consol....
02-03 have a glass window.... also has a clock on the headunit... and the ecu is a updated and put a little bit more rwhp... somewhere around 3-7rwhp more on average.... 03's also have 4 speakers (2 door speakers, and 2 tweeters) and i don't remember if it was 02 or 03.. but one of those years they started to wrap the shift **** with leather....also has a leather center consol
04 has new headlights and new tailights, new bumper, bigger wheels, differnet guage cluster, silver headunit door, and a couple of little accessories...and i think two cup holders
as for the soft top.. it's made of vinyl so it will wear after a while... some have had problems with it getting holes around certain areas, but it's rare...and i would hope it wouldn't leak... . and if it does. go get a hardtop..
