suspension for ed
im debating on what i should do for my car suspension wise. i want the real stiff roadracing feel but i dont want to pay an outrageous amount for it. any body have ideas. i already have front and rear sway bars. i ordered front and rear lower tie bars and front and rear upper strut bars. so coil overs. adj struts, shocks? what?
You dont need strut bars for the 88-91 chassis..They dont really help ..all they do is look good and get in the way..Only a rollcage/or rollbar would benifit our cars..
Revalved koni yellows with a coilover sleeve and custom rate springs wouldnt be that expensive..

That "real stiff roadracing feel" isn't going to come from swaybars or tie bars. It's going to come from spring rates, esp. in the rear which will have a bigger effect on the ride feel. However, considering that my teeth chatter just pulling my car off the trailer, I don't suspect you REALLY want what you are asking for. That "real stiff roadracing feel" only works on the track.
i have alot of friends who drag race. but i also have a few close ones that road race, when i ride/drive their cars it feels awesome and i will be getting my car on track here in the next year. yeah the tie bar/strut bar thing was just a qeuestion, i like to make sure what im buying is good for me in the long run. but a few people have told me a descent set of coil overs (neuspeed or skunk2) and KYB AGX adjustable struts would be sufficient. thanks for all input travis!

Sounds to me like you would be happy with a street setup with only moderately stiff springs. There should be plenty of options already discussed under the search function. You can always work your way up to stiffer springs if you see more and more track time.

On this note, I have an 88 and can't find decent shocks cheap for the rear. If I get the later 89-91 style rear LCA's can I use the later more commonly available "fork" shocks on my CRX? Will the later LCA's bolt right on? Sorry about the threadjacking.

Define "cheap." There are several quality options for the '88 LCAs. However, you can swap LCAs and use the other type of mounting point. I think that's more trouble than it's worth.

What are the options? I've only found complete coilover systems and Koni's which are at least $500+, where KYB AGX are like $300 for a set of 4...even less. I noticed they don't even make a rear shock for the 88's.
