Default Question about VAFC and no its not "WHAT SETTINGS SHOULD I RUN FOR BETTER VTEC"

i recently purchased a used vafc from a friend and had them install it. it works and reads all info correctly but its NOT saving it. ie: i LOSE all settings when i turn the car off. i was curious if there is a specific wire that controls this that could be hooked up incorrectly or not at all / lose . i know when hooking up car stereo's and amps that there is a memory wire that causes this exact same problem if not hooked up.

i would ask the person who installed it but they are out of town and im out of money to take it anywhere else.

ALSO under the etc./initiliaze setting where it asks me to initiliaze YES/NO it wont let me pick yes or no its just staying on NO...maybe a bad unit?

thanks for any help you guys can offer ive already searched and refered to the manual and apexi website and have found nothing at all

to helpful H-T members i hope

For initialization, did you follow the steps on page 42-43 of the manual?? IF you are trying to initialize the V-AFC with the car on, it wont work. You turn the car on at the end of initialization to reset everything once you are done. I did the same thing with my S-AFC.

As far as wiring. Are you sure your power and ground connections are A-OK?? Double and triple check your wiring. There si no wire that will say memory like a radio. Just follow the wiring instructions and you should be good.

the setup and install were done by friends of mine ( im not good with ecu's ) and im not sure what they setup...

HOWEVER before i left work and BEFORE i started the car i put all my settings in and drove home.. after reading this post i went back out to the car and POOF my settings were all still there...i guess i was just not understanding the directions properly . i guess you can only set the settings with the car ignition set on but not with the car started then when you start the car it saves them? either way its working and i REALLY APPRECIATE your response to the still helpful

I beleive that is correct. I Dont think the settings will stick with the car on. I could be wrong. The only things I changed with the car on was brightness.
