CRX security, am i missing something in my list of paranoia?
I'm really looking to get another crx, sell the xb and get back in to it. My only problem is now that i live in las vegas, metro police here rate it the #1 car to be stolen. And there is no way i can leave its stock.
I know one thing is that if a theif wants something bad enough they are going to get it, but i'm looking for like the ultimate defesne against the dark arts.
My plans is of cource...stock radio, some nice speakers and thats it for the interior, but since i want to have an exhaust thats gonna make it a target.
My idea, fuel cut off, probably hooked up to a circuit of switches. Viper alarm. and steering wheel removal.
I'm fairly handy with electronics i was thinking about getting a garage door punch key pad and placing that on the center.
I know i can open my door w/ a licence plate is there away around that? other then shaving the handles

Remove all lock linkage, and put a power lock actuator directly on the lock mechinism. I really like the sirens that DEI sells, that have the back up battery built in too. Startegicy placed weapons about the house never hurts either, IE bedside AK-47, tactial Shotgun under couch, DE .50 cal in underwear drawer.

Told ya you'd be back
You can weld a plate inside the door, to prevent a lisence plate from reaching the lock.
Even if you don't have a model with door mounted seatbelts... use the part that locks the top of the door in place.
The door flexes... that keeps it secured in place so you can't get in with a coat hanger.
...ofcourse nothing will keep anyone from smashing in a window.
Personal experience tought me to have my windows tinted. If it were just to keep the mess to a minimum. 3 yrs later I'm still finding glass beads.
I suggest a manual AND an electronic fuel cutoff switch.
I just got a new alarm with an electronic one. It requires a magnetig thingy to be near a sensor at all times. So it needs to be on the car key ring. No key...no start. (Clifford alarm)
I also have a manual fuel cutoff switch wired up in an undisclosed location.
There's a million theories and ideas.
A friend of mine hooked up a sensor in his cigarette lighter. The car wouldn't start if it wasn't in place.

ive felt a lot better since i started selling the omnipower q/r combo's..
not only does our shop car have one, but the customers we serve locally, got them.
I know a lot of ppl who use them and you can just pull your wheel and take it in with you.. hell let your G/F wear it on her shoulder..

~ Make sure the alarm status LED's are visable, they are more of a deterance than anything. A Honda with an LED parked next to a Honda without one is less appealing.
~Siren wires can be cut rather easily once a thief if inside your car and gets under your hood. Flashing lights aren't that big of a deal to most people anymore. Additional piezo sirens can easily be hidden inside of your vehicle, the 130+dB contained inside the cabin of your car is rather painful.
~ Any ole alarm and wire starter kill to the main PGMFI relay, clutch saftey switch, neutral saftey switch, or any other factory peice of electronics that causes the vehicle not to start without proper engauge/disenguagement
~ Remember no car can escape a roll back tow truck.

I have the siren thing inside my car too.
It IS painful. My alarm has a whole lotta "automatic" functions...and on every occasion it chirps. Sometimes I'm still in the car.
My car alarm has a really sensitive bump sensor, and tilt angle sensor...
Alarm goes off if someone as much as rubs along my car.
I usually have it in silent mode. (car alarms are the crickets of the big city) But my 2way sensor warns me.
An angry dude yelling out the window works better then a politely chirping car alarm.

The lowriders in Orlando have figured that one out, just with air ride or hydraulics lower the car to the point it is impossible to slip something under the car. It may not be foolproof, but it sure as hell will slow down the truck a bit.
