Broken bolt on shift stabilizer
I hope its called a shift stablizer, but you guys probably know what im talking about..its the bar thats not the shift linkage. Anyhow, i was putting my short shifter and new bushings and after i got everything in the last thing to do was to tighten the nut that connects the shift stabilizer to the tranny...unfortunately i overtightened and the bolt head snapped off....i temporarily have it in there pretty snug by using something to put inbetween the plate and the shift stabilizer, but is there anyway i can take out that existing screw part that fits in the hole? Thx
go to lowes, home depot or any hardware store and get a screw extractor that is close to the size of the srcrew. it shold only cost like 5 bucks tops. drill into it with the recommended bit (itll say on the package) and screw in the extractor counter clockwise. should turn itself right out. ive done this on exhaust manifold studs etc and it works every time. even used a big one to get the remainder of a broken spark plug out of a cylinder head. good luck
