Default Anyone have big all motor cams in thier FI setup?

Type R cams seem to work well on boosted cars when the overlap is dialed out via cam gears. just wanted to know if that phiolsophy is being applied to aftermarket n/a cams in a boosted car anyone have any data or experience with this?

We ran Crower 404's in a friend's setup and it ran really fuggin strong. A friend of mine on this board (b16coupe) runs Skunk2 Stage 1 cams in his B16/SC61 setup and it pulls very hard. Doesn't have cam gears, but it pulls a LOT harder than with B16 cams.

id assume that if you can tune out the overlap then you will see nice results. Talked to Jeff Evans and Terru bout this last night...Jeff was going to use m22s for his high hp 2.0 before he decided to road race it, and uve seen the gains terry made going from b16 to itr cams.

with cam gears, u turn the cams and lock them in a position where both intake and exhaust valves arent open together

I have the crower 403 cams right now...on my mostly stock N/A setup, and they pull pretty nice for what they are, and i dont think they will be bad when i turbo this winter! Anyone else using the 403's and turbo?

I used the vtec 63402's on my turbo b16 at first and I had a lot of probs with them, I couldn't get the cams dialed in properly due to such big overlap of the lobes. I'm probably going to go wit hthe GSR's or the "turbo" cams form crower when it gets back on the road.

To add to this, can you guys also tell what turbo's you are matching up with these cams, and what static CR you running.

I tried using crower stage 2 for all motor on my fully built ls it run like ****.
I put the stock ones back and runs wayyyyyyy better.
So I think this might depend/be base on the engine or set up you have.
I wouldn't recommend using all motor cams on a turbo set up because of my experience.
There are turbo cams out there from same companies making all motor cams and will work better because they were made for boost.
I actually tune my car, and know people from camp1320, J' racing and Bubba it turn out the cams were my problem.
With that said I will say do not use NA cams on boost

I'd say its your tuner more than anything. Like I said, a friend of mine is running the Crower 404's in her setup and it runs great. They really don't have that much duration (226/224 @ .050, which is the same/similar as a lot of SR20DET/4G63/2JZGTE turbo cams) but they're ground on a 109 LSA, which does cause a bit more overlap than a traditional turbo cam which might be ground on a 114 LSA, but since we're running a dual cam motor it is much easier to fight the problem of a tight LSA since you can dial each cam forwards or backwards to get the desired amount of overlap with cam gears.

ummm my Tuner was bubba leslie's CRX builder and tuner one of the best if not the best tuner out there he's made lost of people famous and I wouldn't questions his knowledge with so many cars being built and tune by him. Also he's been on magazines etc for his tuning skills and leslie's CRX record for being the fastest all motor car.

I'll take your words but I would say it comes down do your set up and engine.
Like I said I tried this on a fully built LS motor meaning fully built, sleeves, crank, new everything etc.
So I don't think you are right about the tuner sorry! Remember this are all motor cams not turbo and I was using crower stage 2 cams for NA.

62403-2 Stage 2 - Street/Strip package. MOST POPULAR profile. kit. 1000 to 8000+ rpm (15-18 hp).
243 / 246 duration
211 / 210 Duration @ .050"
.423 / .409 Gross Lift w/1.75

As you can see there are many options for all motor cams I will say maybe it was my set up but this didn't work for me

I took Terry's advice on the ITR cams, well partially. Im using the 97-99 spec ITR intake cam and gsr exhaust. Seems to be working ok for me. Havent been on the dyno yet but feels better than the gsr intake. Car is making decent power, probably somewhere around 400whp on pump. Just ran 11.3@126 on 10 psi
