tranny question (d16a6)
hey again guys and girls.
I finally got off Halo online long enough today to take the tranny off my blown motor. It was hell (still in the engine bay) but it came out. As i was looking/playing around with it i noticed something was broken.
I don't have access to a digital cam but i can kinda explain whats broken....
Oh the inside of the tranny where the shaft goes into the clutch set up and eventually meets the fly wheel..there is a round piece with a "one sided" bearing that looks to meet up with the pressure plate. On that piece (discribed above) it os moved by the external arm, which is attached to the clutch cable....
Ok all that being said that round, bearing piece that moves to and fro has two prongs that stick out. Upon looking very carefully at the piece i found out that these two pieces connect to springs that retain this "piece", or perhaps make it move back faster...i don't know. Anyways to the question now that i have discribed the part.....
With one prong broken off, and the oposite spring broken (it doesn't attach at all it looks like) is it safe to leave like that or should i attempt to find the part through honda and buy all the parts brand new?
PICS

i know its a long thread, but any help would be great

yes dude, got get a replacement. If the wire spring is brocken, replace it even from a wrecking yard part but if the bearing is defective, get a new one. You don't want to do this job twice if you don't have to.

its just regular sockets that u use to take off the clutch pp and flywheel, putting it back ON you need a clutch alignment tool, which you can find at kragens, i found mine at harbor frieght i think

You need 12 point sockets to get the pressure plate and fly wheel bolts off you can get some cheap from big lots, But make sure you get the 12 pointers if big lots don't have them Sears will for sure but craftmen are expansive.

just get one of thos exedy clutch kits, comes with a throwout bearing , pressure plate, clutch disc , pilot bearing and a clutch alignment tool.
it only cost about 100 $ off ebay from a user called clutchmaster.

if your just replacing the tranny, you shouldnt have to remove the clutch/flywheel if your not replacing them. If i misread and did not see that your replacing those then shoot me, but otherwise those two items should stay bolted to the engine, whille the throw out bearing will be on the tranny itself.
no i blew the engine kinda....one of the valves broke off on my way to work and fucked up a piston.
So i thought it'd be cheaper to replace the engine than go through all the rebuilding ****. So i'm buying another engine from the junkyard, BUT it does not have the tranny or flywheel. So i have to use mt old tranny/flywheel/everything
