Yep, I've got a D16Y8 intake manifold on my 97 DX hatch that came with the downdraft intake manifold. It's a fairly straightforward swap as long as you get an auto 96-98 Y8 intake manifold.

Sure. I don't know how much additional work it will cause you, as you'll need a Y8 throttle body to steal the spring for the butterfly as well as the cable mounting bracket, but I'm sure it can be done.
