Default Stock Sway Bar Sizes

Hey H-T,

I've been compiling a list of stock sway bar sizes for Honda / Acura's:

http://grabka.org/articles/hondaswaybars.php

... but I need sizing information for the 92+ Civics. If anyone has that information, post it here!

Also, if you see any errors in that list, please let me know.

92-00 civic ex has 22mm front sway.

I think that 92-00 civic lx also has 22mm front sway.

92-95 civic si had 22mm front sway

99-00 si had 26mm front sway, 13mm rear sway

No 96-00 civic (except si) had a rear sway. I believe the same is also true for 92-95.

Does the 99-00 Civic Si 26mm front sway have an advantage over other honda/acura front sways besides being slightly bigger ?

Slightly bigger?!! Did you know that even 1mm thicker is a big difference?

While 26mm is huge and great for reducing body roll, many feel that it is too large and it makes it difficult to tune the suspension for neutral handling given the rates of the majority of aftermarket springs and swaybars. I haven't seen any rear solid swaybars thicker than 22mm as that thickness already poses a problem for the rear subframe. You could choose your own custom spring rates, but if you're at that level you're probably not using a front swaybar at all.

26-24-22-21mm front sway for street driving and autoX =
26-24-22-21mm front sway for racing =
no front swaybar + very high front spring rates for racing =
no front swaybar + very high front spring rates for street driving and autoX =

with the 26mm bar, the idea is to support the added weight of the B16 and associated accessories. but when it comes to daily driving dynamics, the 22mm is totally fine, even for the B16-equipped cars, and a larger rear sway bar is desirable..

a rear 99-01 JDM ITR is 23mm. (not sure about 96-98)
92-95 civics other than the EX/SI did not come with sways front or rear.

"Civic (Si) 88-91 18.0mm 15.0mm"

http://grabka.org/articles/hondaswaybars.php

This is great general info, and I'm sure most of it IS right. But I just removed and measured the OEM swaybar from my '89 Civic Si, and while I've read elsewhere that 15 mm is the diameter on the 4th gen Si models, mine reads 0.52" with my micrometer, which is like 13.2 mm, so I'm thinking my car somehow got the non-Si bar . . .

I suppose it's possible they threw the base model bar on there by mistake, or maybe they just ran out of the correct, larger Si bar that day in the factory, but that seems really odd for Honda.

Good info! You can find the listings for the sized on honda's parts site. just find the sway bar part and it tells you the size of it.
