Default Hi Low converter on 5th Gen

Already posted this in the Audio/Security forum and searched both forums. I am trying to hook up a RCA line output converter from the rear speakers ( all I need is +R/L -R/L ) but all I am getting is a buzzing drone out of the sub. If anyone has any idea how to hook up a hi low converter (fixed line RCA output) and help would be appreciated.
I'm posting here specifically because someone mentioned it might be the acoustic feedback system and I am having no luck with help in the Audio forum. Thanks guys.
Also, I plugged my I pod into the rca inputs on the amp and the sub/amp work great, therefor, it must have something to do with either the way I am wiring the converter or the acoustic feedback system.
