Need help I may drop blower for Turbo for Mustang gt
What up guy's I'am thinking of droping pro-Charger for single Turbo. The only thing is a new turbo kit will be a lil on the high end for me as of now. I'am asking you guys for info because i see a lot of Turbo Hot roding form the Honda camp. Any way can some one tell me where I can get a used Garrett-T04-V1 trim from. Or what other Turbo is on the same leve as the Garrett-T04. I don't have a lot of money so i would love to do this or should I say get every thing I need for $1000 bucks or less. My blower has some oil leak trouble so that's it for me as far as this Pro-Charger goes. Does any one know if Turbocity is a good company and do they have good price ??? I'am trying to put it on with some friends of my Cuz. My Cuz has a Turbo GSR and they did he's sat up in one day. Oh ya what size Turbo comes on a Supra and are they any good?? If I don't do this then I'll have to save up for a Twin Scerw Blower=4k and no trip to spain this summer
Don't waist that much more on another blower. The turbo has a lot more potential. I saw an old issue of mustang 5.0 or something like that, 4.6 block (not sure if it was built), GT40r he was makin 550rwhp on like 5.5-6 psi. That's awsome!

Or is there any other Turbo that is the same size as the T04-Garrett. Any info will be nice
Have you checked out http://www.turbomustangs.com ? They have a DIY junkyard turbo forum that is really good.
I have no idea, but check out http://www.turbomustangs.com for more info
Look into the Turbo Kit Section for HP or PTK, they are the best.

i used to have a fox body mustang with two turbo coupe turbos .63 a.r and it made 550 hp on 10 psi with not much done at all you can get these turbos from a local junk yard if you want to do a twinn set up if not look for a power strock diesal turbo my buddys got one on his 4.6 mustang runs good hope this will help and it will be cheeper for you
im not sure on the new strength of things. but iirc the pistons are weaker in the 4.6(unless you have aftermarket)...but I also think the lbock is still a weakpoint at aroun 500 whp. anything around that and up and you run a fine line of making power and spliting the stock block.
so becareful!! or do a 351 swap
a supra comes twin turbo'd..most of the junkyard kits youll want/have to do twin turbo. they are too small to run by themselves. if youw ant to go single your looking at at least $600 for a proper szed turbo (from like master power) ..garret, precision cost more then that.

A stock 2-bolt iron GT block is good to over a thousand horsepower with a cobra crank, some good rods and pistons. The blocks are an issue for 302's, that's probably what you're thinking of.
There are literally hundreds of different models of Garrett TO4's, so we can't tell you what to look for. If you don't even know the difference between different turbos and you are on a tight budget you will NEVER do a turbo setup on a mod car. They're cramped, you can't just flip the headers around like on a 5.0, and it's more money for a fuel setup vs. an easy return style setup on a 5.0. If you try to do it for under a grand you will blow **** up, period.

Go turbo, but save for it. Like tubroEGsedan said, iron modular block is good to over 1000whp. PTK is one of the best for tubro set ups, but IMO all are WAY overpriced. All you need is headers, turbo, I/C, wastegate, BOV, and custom piping(need really good fabricator). 03 Cobra fuel dual fuel pumps will take care of your fuel demands. Chip like Diablo or Autologic will work, but standalone is best(expensive). DIY is the only way it will be affordable. Goodluck.

Sounds so cut and dry
The problem with the Mod's is so little space under the hood and the bolt pattern on the heads, so you can't flip the headers over due to the bolt pattern, and even if you could it would run into somethign since the bay is so packed. Unless you can make headers yourself you're looking at a 600-700 for a set of mild steel ones to be fabricated, so the stuff adds up quick. I did a single T70 setup on my mustang coupe, the headers were 350 bucks on a group purchase, 490 for the turbo, 260 for an OBX intercooler on Ebay, 300 for the downpipe + muffler, 300 for the wastegate, and maybe 200 bucks for the charge pipe and filter. I have about 2000 dollars invested before any fuel mods, and this is on a much cheaper 302! I think a 4000 dollar budget is far for a proper setup.

Some of the things you have listed I have on my car. Like you said I plan on doing it my self along with some friends. Thats if i even go turbo as of now I'am just doing some Rec-Con=info to see if it's a good way to go. My Pro-Charger is not a bad blower but i got it second hand from a friend and it's showing it's age now=Oil leaking and DAM silping belt. Any way if it's going to cost $4k then I'll get a Twin Scerw blower.
No problem. It will cost $4k, but it WILL kill the twin screw if properly set-up and sized(unless you only drive hard under 3500rpms)
.
I almost did the PTK set-up on my 99GT, but decided to stick with one porject at a time, and sold the GT. If I were to do it, I would use the PTK set-up as a template. The GT40R is a sick turbo. The biggest deterent for me was the price of an overbuilt 4.6 is high.........about $10k for what I wanted...........just the longblock. Goodluck.
