Ball joint rear view mirror BROKE!!!!!!!!
Hi im using my b/f's account and he has a EG civic and i was puting a seat in the car and i accidently broke off the rear vew mirror from the ball joint and he told me i have to fix it so please help me cause his got work tomorrow morning thanks
does it look like it can be fixed? if not then you would have to go to a junk yard or honda dealer ship but they would charge u up the ***..best bet is to see how and where it broke...does it look like the whole thing is completely broken can it go back into place?
the piece thats glued to the windshield is intact. The balljoint that is supposed to be inserted into the arm is pulled out. Looks like it could be fixed if forced in, but it's impossible to do it with the base still mounted to the windshield. when you force it, the arm turns to the side via the other balljoint that is still intact.
I can't figure out how to get the base off the windshield. I tried prying it and there is no sign of it coming out. I don't want to crack the windshield. Neither repair manual is any help. This sucks.
Don't pry it off unless you want to buy a windshield too! Try GENTLY tapping the mount on the top with a piece of wood and a hammer, the mount should slide off the piece glued to the windshield. I still think you should be able to pop it back in where it is though.

you have to slide something small under the bottom side of the mirror to detach it from the little hole the retainer is sitting it, youll see the place where you slide somethign in there (small screw driver) and then just remove the mirror while pushing on the screw driver
slambedcivic, you are a ******* god send. I knew that little indentation was for some ****. My girl could never figure it out, oh well I forgive her. I'll try and press the balljoint back into the arm tomorrow using a table vise. I couldn't do it in the car as the arm would twist to the side and the force was bound to crack the windshield.
No repair manuals were any help on this one. I almost considered taking it to a shop and getting ripped.

calm down dont worry not broken,
its meant to come off if bumped, now pry off the plastic cover of the mirror base, remove the three screws and spring base. now reinstall on windshield and snap plastic cover on after.
