If I were to get a k20a swap and then run a JDM ecu and throw recaros in my car would I still throw a SRS light because of not having the seats with the side airbags.
My guess is that I would not because the ITR does not have the side airbags like the USDM Type S. So I would guess that it would not affect it at all if I were to take out the stock seats. Can anyone back up my guess?

you will need the jdm srs unit, jdm steering wheel, and jdm passenger front airbag. jdm ecu is for the engine only. also, dc5r air bag is only a single stage. usdm airbag is dual stages.

if you don't want to spend a lot of money to get rid of the srs light, you can use the resistors to substitute the side air bag circuitry, and take the opds unit and opds sensors from your dc5 passenger seat.

there is diy instruction on clubrsx.com, which i provided input to.

another way is ignore the srs light. 1 person had an accident and the air bags still deployed even the srs light was on. he had aftermarket seats also.

do you guys know of any problems with insurance if you get in an accident and you have aftermarket seats? i can understand problems with the front air bags since they are mandatory. But not sure about the legalities of the side air bags. I have been wanting a bride brix drivers seat for a long long time after sitting in one at a show a year ago.

 

Well if do the k20 swap you wont be able to use the jdm ecu, my boy did the swap and the car started up and then shut off. he even took off the imbolizer and the car still didnt start so he had 2 get hondata and for the srs light live w/ it i have the jdm dc5 steering wheel and my srs light has been on for a while but i got use2 it. But I wanna get the recardo seats they look so phatttttttt but once they come across the eyes of a thief kiss your car goodbye

 

I have no real worries of thiefs my car is either garaged or I parked next to my room, on a main busy road. I would dare them to take a chance stealing my seats. As for the EWU problem, I have to worries I got a DAM good mechanic he said it's a simple wiring fix. I believe it was just regrounding something, not sure though. But he garunteed everything would run just right. Said he can do it in a day for 200. So works for me.
