the right way ?? ls/vtec
i have a b18a1 in my 90 crx obd0 and ive been researching and ive been noticing the quite a few people say they last if you do it the right way , i was wondering if someone could go into more detail about the right way i just tryed to search again but right now its saying the server is down . the head ive been thinkin about is the b16 . and from what ive found out so far i think i would have to switch to obd1 because vtec motors werent in the us till obd1 came out unless i found a jdm head is this correct tha nks for the info
Ya you will have to convert to OBD1 if the head is not OBD0.
Just get the golden eagle ls/vtec kit, everything you need to make an LSVTEC minus the tapping of the head (easy for a shop to do).
building it right includes, replacing the stock oil/water pump with some VTEC (GSR, ITR) replacements, because the LS ones are inadequate.
Building it right includes, replacing all the gaskets once the head is off and put back on, because you'll have oil leaks if you dont know what your doing.
Building it right includes, aftermarket internals if you want to take it higher in the RPM range, keep in mind your still using a b18a block, and they dont take too kindly to high RPMS that your vtec head can.
Other than that..search.

You shouldn't have to change to OBD1 you just need to find a B16A/A1. They were in Japanese and European civic/crx in the SiR and 1.6i-VT models. I suppose they may be a little harder to find then the A2's that came in the delsols but then you can stay non-OBD.
As for the "right way" to do an LS/VTEC... the block isn't made to go up the RPM that the block of the B16/18 head came from. If you rebuild the block that would be the "right way." Also known as "How To: Not Throw/Snap a Rod."
There's plenty of LS/VTEC guys on this forum that can help you. Also try searching.
