wondering if anyone could help
i have a 91 crx dx with the 1.5(i know it sucks but it wont be in there forever), well anyway, i was driving down the road one day and the motor stopped running, so i pulled off the road and tried starting it and it would just turn over, i finally got it to start by holding the gas pedal to the floor but it didnt go above 1000rpm it would back fire and die. well i took off the distributor cap and looked, and the rotor was broken into a couple pieces, well i went and bought a new cap and rotor and put them on and does the same thing. it will start if the pedal is to the floor run for a second or two backfire and die. if anyone has any suggestions i would really appriciate it
ignitor or coil in the dist.. mine did the same thing. i'd keep it floored and only put and sputter around. if you know someone with the same dist. see if you can borrow it and try it on your car. if it does'nt work than at least you've eliminated that. i would try the things mentioned in the post prior to mine first.
yeah its definatly a distributor problem.my friends did this and he chouldnt spin the rotor freely when he had it out(it was hard to spin) so that caused the rotor to melt off.
