Weird problem with exhaust piping.
Well this situation arose last night and I was wondering if anyone else had any similar experiences. I get off work around 9:15-ish and walk my way back to my school (I just park at school and walk to work because it is cheaper) and warm up my car and have a smoke. I let it warm up for about 10 minutes then I drive off. I notice that my exhaust note sounds a bit more deep and throaty or just plain louder. Just a bit.
Well I think nothing of it and I drive all the way home to a local Wendys and the drive through line is long so I just wait and wait. Well after I got my order I switch to 2nd and hit the gas and hear the loudest ******* exhaust noise ever (mind you I have a stock exhaust) at this point I know something is wrong. As I'm driving home I hear a dragging sound well after I park up I decided to take a look and behold that the exhaust piping to my cat has broken off and I was dragging that **** ever since Wendys since thats when it became the loudest.
Upon further inspection this morning I realize that the **** had rusted completely off and just broke off. For the last couple weeks I did hear rattling down there at the 2500 RPM range but just thought it was the heat shield. It is currently hanging on with some metal wiring and a piece of sheet metal. The car is a 95 GSR with 140+K with the stock exhaust system so I suppose this was bound to happen sometime.

my stock/oem exhaust is about ready to do the same thing.
i noticed my exhaust note was deeper and just plain louder. after taking a closer look at it i noticed that there was a fair amount of rust and a hole right next to the cat on the exhaust side.
i just ordered my new cat-back system so hopefully mine doesnt end up breaking off before i get it on
