So my trunk leak still isn't fixed. Water is still getting in around the taillight gaskets. I'm probably going to try to make new ones this weekend, along w/ putting some silicone sealant around the edges.
So anyway I washed my car today, and noticed where some water was getting in. It's coming in right around one of the clips that holds up the wiring harness back there. When I pulled the clip out, quite a bit of water came into the trunk. Take a look where I'm talking about:

There is a matching hole in that same location on the taillight gasket itself. This pic is showing the inside surface of the gasket (the part that goes up against the metal when installed):

My taillight tends to get water on the inside, and then that water comes thru that hole in the gasket and in the bulkhead and into the car around that clip. There's no problem on the passenger side, though, so I'm going to have to think about it some more and try to figure out how to keep the water from coming in (how to keep the taillight from filling up) when I make my new gaskets. I'll post when I figure out something.

Good investigation, keep us posted as this seems to be a common problem w/ our cars. Also I have noticed condensation in my passenger side tailight. It isnt full of water it just has beads of water and it is foggy. Is this caused by the same thing like yours? It is only my passenger side and it is in the white area of the tailight housing. I havent noticed any water in my hatch though so I dont think it is a problem yet.
Oh well, Off I go to eat and be thankful for my integra among many other more important things.

thats your light leaking. it just means they aren't sealed correctly and the condensation is because of the heat from the bulb. i have the same thing with my tail lights, apparently it happens a lot with tegs.

Yes water gets inside my driver side taillight also. When I take the light off the car, remove the gasket, and remove all the bulb holders, I can turn the light over and water pours out.
I can see water droplets on the inside of the lenses. It's a PITA.
*edit* hmm I just had a thought, I wonder if there's some way I could make a rubber gasket instead of a foam one like the OEM one. I mean, all the weatherstripping and stuff is rubber and it does a good job keeping water out. I've never really understood why the factory uses foam for the taillight gaskets anyway, since foam soaks up water like a sponge and then ends up letting it out inside the car.
hmmm rubber gaskets, might have to think more about this....
Any idea where I might could find a sheet of rubber in some certain thickness?

Yeah your'e right I have thought about that too. I don't know I think you could probably go to Home Depot or something and but some rubber weather stripping and maybe custom-fab it to the piece of foam so that the edges are rubber. That way at least water wont get in from the edges. I dont know where you could get a sheet of rubber. Might wanna ask around. Good idea though, I will work on it.
