Default Aftermarcket Header on an European R

The great header test was very interesting,
thanks to all people who made it

I wonder if the increase of performance would be the same
on an European R ?

I would think so, but it would depend on what kind of exhaust manifold your car has now. What size collector does it have?

What do you mean by "size" ?

Is the diameter just after the engine ? or just before the cat ?

For sure it would... Nice to meet a neighbour.. Prepare for Euro

Euro spec = JDM, so there`s nothing to sweat

The collector`s size is 2,25``

Since the Euro header is the same as the JDM, the increases would be there but just not a dramatic.

OK, let's go for a new header...

Another thing... Is there a simple way to
reduce the rev where the VTEC kicks ?
Or I need to change the ECU ?

There are many ways to change the x-over

1) Vtec-controller only (I`m selling one since I`ve got a power fc)
2) VAFC
3) Fields
4) Aftermarket ECU
5) Eprom
5) Standalone ECU like power fc etc..

The VTEC controler can be switched on-off ?
Is it easy to install ?
What price do you demand for yours ?

I`ve had the header off some days ago for having the dc installed .. the diameter is 5 centimeter ... Iguess 2,25`` ??

The Vtec Controller is easy to install. You have to connect a few wires ans install a switch in the drivers cabin. Every parts are included.
You can set the x-over from 2900 up to 7000 rpm while driving wen it`s needed.
I would dyno it so you can gain some torque or set the x-over ´higer on longer trips at high speed (to run on the primary lobe at 6200rpm or so to save fuel)

I paid more than 700 Marks but I would sell it for 150 Euro (new: more than 380 Euro)

The Euro ITR header is 4-2-1 two piece but not the same as the USDM one. JDM header = 4-1 and 2.5" OD.

Maybe the Euro header is the '96 JDM ITR header. The OD (outer diameter) = 57 mm (2.25"). The ID is about 46 mm (1.8").

You will definately feel a difference if you upgrade your euro header into a 2.5" header. But you need a 2.5" testpipe or cat and you need to modify your B-pipe also.

Better than geting no cars. We in Austria have no Skylines, no RX7 3gen., no Supra (the newest gen)....we have to import them from a other eropean country :sux azz:

I don`t know your car, but mine had a 4-1 header with an inner diameter of 50mm.

The US got the worst parts.. maybe..
But you have the largest aftermarket. Most of our ITR`s are stock.

You bought your car new? That's certainly not the stock Euro header!!
Does it have a heat shield? Is it stainless steel? And what kind of cat do you have?
I think it's a non-JDM 4-1 aftermarket header you had.....

Surprising....
I bought it used. The former owner installed a DTM exhaust, a speaker system and the viper. Maybe he swapped the header too.... possible. I never saw him in personal

That would explain why my R dynoed more than 190 crank hp the first time which is rare. => Because it wasn`t stock..

Anyway, I don`t like the 4-1 header because I don`t care about peak power. I need a higher velocity through the header between 2500rpm and 5000rpm so the dc 4-2-1 feels way better.

I can`t tell any dyno results because major mods will be done in January..so I`ll dyno it after that.

So okay,I was wrong.... The stock header is a small 421 design ????? Hmmm.

Don`t mock
the header is behind a heatshield... nobody cares...

Why would the header be illegal? Only a testpipe is non-legal, right?

Here in Austria (and I think in Europe everywhere) you MUST declare every part on the car to the government.....and a header is in most case not TUV prooven......therefore not legal. Same with exhaust. You need a TUV prooven exhaust, otherwise your car is not legal on streets. You know, it is louder than stock, maybe the emissions are off

Yes,
every part has to have the "general operating permit".
If it`s not, than you have the chance to try a "single permit". <== costs hell and
the parts have to operate withing very strict noise, emission and security-standards, just like Christian said..
