EX Cam gear timing.......! please help!
yes i have a 94 ex with aem adjustable cam gears, and i really need to know what's a safe and good hp gain on the cam gear timing to advance and retard.....what's a good degree to set it on....cuz here we have no dyno...and i just need the extra power...???? Please reply!
if you advance the cam timing, you'll increase your low end power, but lose high end... if you retard, you'll sacrifice low end for a little high end... if you adjust too far each way, you'll ping... i'd say retarding it 2 degrees is a good place to start for F22B1 motors...
thanx.....but like i wanted something for quick sprints and take offs for like 1/8th a mile dragging......i got a few other mods in my car but i just wanted something to reduce my 1/8th a mile time.....will retarding it do that? or advancing it? and by how many degrees?
it's a 5 speed sohc vtec with intake, custom catback exhuast, hp dual output muffler, dc 4-2-1 headers, aem cam gear....so retarding it would give me more top end hp's???? what about retarding it pass 2 like 3-5???
i've had mine retarded about 8 degrees... and i had better high end (5500rpm+), but lost all my low end, and a bit of mid-range... i'd stick to around -2 or -3 degrees, and i recommend getting a VAFC to tune your car... you'll notice quite a difference in performance and even fuel economy...
