Default Flashing Check Engine Light?

I have the usual check engine light for only having one o2 sensor on my header, but last night i started my car and my check engine light was flashing....also my idle was really rough, it was like bogging at around 1000 rpms, then it would kick to 1500 without my foot on the throttle...after like a minute it stopped and went to its normal cold start idle at like 1500...car ran fine after that....

any ideas?

If your check engine light is flashing, it means you have a catalyst damaging misfire occuring. This would also explain why engine bogs and bucks at idle. You definitely need to have it checked out ASAP.

Might I suggest you NOT drive it till you figure out whats wrong. Usually when the lights start to flash that means theres something very wrong instead of when it just stays steady which means theres a small issue.

I have never heard of a flashing light indicatiing misfire as you describe. If the service connector is bridged, then it will flash to indicate the code which has been stored. A continuous flashing light in this case would indicate that the ECU itself is bad. If the ECU is chipped, it can also indicate a bad chip.

Flashing light = Misfire. Could be a plug wire, plug, valve etc...
