First off, I just got some blue neon to be installed under my dash. Was curious, is it illegal to actually have them in the car? or just illegal to be using them?

Also, if I were to have an LCD screen installed on in my car, is it possable to switch from GPS to something like a PS2 set up? I dont know how that all works.

I also tried to find out on my own but id rather not ask cops ya know Anyways , any help would be great

 

as far as the neon is concerned.....any blue illumination that is visible from the front of the vechicle (to my knowledge) is considered illegal. NNow I have only seen this been enforced under a situation like those terrible window washer leds, or turn signals turned blue, but I'm guessing that neons could fit into that section......

 

I've spoke to a few chp's back in the day and they told me neons are legal IF the light source is not visible. So if the light is showing and the neon tube is not you are legal. This was a question for undercar neons and he pretty much said that's for everything. My friend had a car w/ a light on license plate and he said that was illegal cause the "source" was visible and same with his window washer leds. But I would do more research laws may have changed since then.

 

lol. a guy i know at school got his neons installed by the dealer (underground kit) and before he even got out of the parking lot, the cops were on it. hahaha.


just stay away from blue, red, white, or even purple because sometimes purple may look like blue from a distance and such.

 

actually, I know white is legal, I have been told by many people and even a cop...

But the undercar kits, I find it hard to believe that those are legal . and im pretty sure they arnt because my friends dad is a cop and he tells me that they are a " distraction " which I believe since it would be to many people. I dont plan on having that. But I just installed my neon tubes under the dash and they arnt visible, but they dont work

maybe I cut and spliced them on the wrong wire? I put the hot wire on the constant power wire (yellow) that goes to my lighter plug. It worked with Street glow kits when I had them but wont for this .. maybe bad neon? I got them from http://www.elwirecheap.com they looked like they would be really good. Maybe they need to be hooked up to a normal power wire ( red )

Its in the shop right now. Im not allowed to drive it till I raise it about an inch because my tires are rubbin. so im getting ahold of skunk2 to get spanners tommorow. but if you want to stop by and check it out, I work at the shop from 1 - 5:30 every day except teusday. The shop is called Fix Auto. Its on westminster and hoover street, right on the corner. cant miss it.

does your shop do alignments?

 

haha No its not for junk cars. We do repairs on any car really. We have had a few nice cars stop by. and all the work done on my car was done at our shop. But we dont do alignments. If your car was at our shop, we'd do whatever work that needs to be done on it and then send it to this other shop that does business with us and they do the alignments for us. Id tell the the place, but I dont know how to spell its name haha. Its some guys last name lol.
