Question for all you "Car Theater Junkies"
I got a 2000 Integra and have always wanted to do a full in car theater system including new speakers (already have sub and amp) and a 7" flip up monitor. For those who have an in car theater system in a integra, civic, accord, anything just let me know what you think of your purchase cause I know it's not cheap and if it was worth it to you. I picked out a few componenets so here are a few pics of my "dream system" I have a Alpine Type R 12" sub and a RF 475 watt amp right now with a Alpine CDA 9811 cd/mp3/wma player

flip out monitors dont work the best in those integras because of the dash shape. i would get a double din screen, it will fit perfect and offer a factory apperance.
that guy OBVIOUSLY knows nothing...
don't listen to him.
Alpine makes the BEST monitors.. everything else is GARBAGE.. Alpine has the best resolution, best features, best everything IMO...

me?? i know nothing? wut about quality? i have seen more broken alpine in dash monitors than any other reputable brands.
the slide out motor on the alpine is horrible. any car with a somewhat bumpy ride, will have a broken sliding motor.
alpine radios have the most problems as well. the only brand worse i can think of in terms of problems is kenwoods d-mask models.
until u work for a car stereo shop, u wouldnt understand how horrible alpine can be sometimes.

Alpine, year after year has the lowest warranty return rate of any other brand, BY FAR, the stuff is damn near bullit proof.

ok ATF Kuk your just gonna gonna post on my thread anymore...cause i disagree with you on everything you've said so your opinion won't be needed anymore. But anyways back to my topic since some of us are too immature to handle someones opinions *coughATFKukcough*. One question for peichie though..what exactly are "double din" screens. I've seen some pics of people with 7" monitors in there tegs and you're right they don't seem to fit very good...any help with pics or brands would be awsome thanks man!!

a double din would be a radio that would fit the opening of your dash. radios are measured in "din" openings, yours happens to be a double din.

u asked for opinions, and he gave you one, yet you do not agree with his opinions, therefore he should be discounted and you only accept opinions that agrees with yourself?
He did not once act immature as he was only stating his opinions, like everyone else. I did not see where he went out of line.
I don't think alpine has a problem with the resolution, features, and stuff like that, but i do believe they need to improve on their face mechanism. Even their headunits has problems with the mechanism, but that is NOT to say ALL alpines have problems.
if alpine is not the only brand u can go, look into pioneer or eclipse.
now it's my turn....
if you're going to get either of those setup, get the setup that has the alpine type R speakers. If video is a priority, might as well have good sound with it. trust me...watching a video while the sound stage and imaging is off is not that great.

Back in the early 90s, people are able to acheive a center soundstage without the use of a digital processor. If you're willing to spend the time to actually make it right, i would say its worth it.
but if u are going to put the components in the doors and call it quits, then i guess a center channel speaker would be for you.
alpine sells a small center speaker, forgot how much it went for though.
the channel speaker is nothing more than an amp with a speaker hooked up to it and slapped in the middle of the car.

i think he's talking about the center channel alpine makes which is just a speaker and an amp. you connet the center output on the decoder. one thing that makes that alpine a poor choice is the freq response. 200hz is the lowest it goes. its suprising how much low frequency info is actually contained in the center channel.
i wouldnt say that a center channel is really a good idea in a car. if your front speakers are install properly you can get a perfect center image with no speaker there. another advantage to having no center speaker in the car is you have an equal stage height from left to right. with a center you'll most likely have a huge rise in the center height while the left and right seem lower. btw...prologic went out along with VHS and cassettes
I'd say a good processor is a necessity though so you can separate the front speakers from the rear and also route the LFE channel to the subs.
as far as the equipment you've chosen, go with better equipment. i'd say type-R's in the back, type-X in the front (if you want to go all alpine). you'll also need an amp for the front speakers. something in the 100x2 range should be enough.

The Type X's are a good choice, I just never really thought to look at those. They are pricey so I may stick with the R's but thanks for reminding me about the X's. I always thought of those as out of my price range but now...they aren't!

I've got the type-X's and they're not bad speakers. just keep in mind that if you get them they like power. i'd say 100x2W for the front and run the rears off the HU.one thing thats good with the X line is that the crossover has a lot of flexibility. another thing to keep in mind is that although there is a .1 channel (the LFE) a lot of bass information is still contained in the left and right channels so if at all possible try something like 8" drivers in the doors or something. even with a sub in the back, it just doesnt sound the same as bass up front. basically what i'm getting at here is work more on the front stage of the car and worry about the rear later. you'll be fine with the stock speakers for a while. it'll be 100X better for music listening too.
