"Streeted" being the key word here - you might as well ditch the idea. 9 seconds isn't the most realistic goal for a street-legal car, let alone a street-driven car.

9 seconds is like saying can I drive a a top fuel dragster or GT 500 sponsored car on the streets
I can vouch a 10 second street car but not a 9 second and those are high 10's also with slicks
good luck

lol, i can vouch a 10 second car too, my buddies... i guess thats kinda why i wana run in the 9's :\, to mock him.
Let's suppose you have the money and know how to build a 9 second street CRX.
How long would a 16 year old last with that type of car on the street?

First drive a 11 second street car and see how un - streetable it is without big
slicks you cant run on the street. Its not worth it unless you just want bragging
rights that you ran 9's and the car is " a street car " meaning you have plates
etc its not easy to run 9s and claim a street car.

go for like 11's or 12's first. then go big. That is what I am doing. For winter I have a high 11 low 12 sec. crx. For summer I have a low 10's 680 hp motor. but I have seen 9 sec civic hatches, del sol, and crx. all of those are daily drivers too. mine is.
thanks for the support derek, i might pm you. i guess alot of these guys think every 16 year old is some hot head show off, and i know a car that runs 10's without slicks, 57 chevy belair, the v8 world is a totaly differnet one, and no, there are no slicks on it, and two, theres a thing called "cheater slicks" that can be put on the street :-D.

yeah, but yuo gotta member, its only the motor :\. i dont know where to buy all this other stuff at or anything ilke that, i guess online.
9 seconds isnt possible on a crx with street tires atleast ive never seen it. Slicks yes but who runs slicks on the street...either way its stuipid.

just a kid with a dream, drive a 350 whp civic on the streets then come back and say you want a 9 second crx and you will realize how useless anything over 450 on the streets is

yeah, a kid with a dream, but nothign wrong with that, my dad was into racing, and so i pick it up for him. and about the muscle head thing, cant say thats allright, cuz me myself am also a muscle head, actually thats all i even cared about up until about 2or so months ago. my truck wil have over 450 in it, its all in the eyes of the man behind the wheel.
IMHO... Civics and CRX's were never designed to be 9 second cars. They'll fall apart or something... Axles (even High performance ones), transmissions, mounts, and the list goes on. I would choose a different platform, but then thats just me. I'm going to be satisfied with a ZC swap. I work with someone in an '87 Buick Regal who runs low 11s with 27 PSI through the v8, but those things are huge and built for it. I think that anything under mid 10s is asking too much out of the poor civic.
hey this guy sent me an im...

9 second crx on the street isn't going to happen:
You could build a 9 second CRX that pulls 9 on slicks... if you're willing to spend the money on it, it's not impossible. But then you try and put it on the road with street tires bad things are going to happen:
You'll spin the wheels most of the way through 2nd, making stop signs and lights a coumbersome challenge, and you'll get pulled over every 10 seconds because 9 second cars sound like 9 second cars. That and in order to put that power to the wheels you're going to need a full-race clutch. You ever try stop and go traffic on a full-race clutch and an engine pushing over 400WHP? Yea, right.
9 second CRX? Have fun at the track. But driving it on the street is pointless, impractical, and would get very annoying very quickly.
You'll never pass emissions, you'll never pass inspection and although you can just get someone to illegally pass it for you, you'll just get pulled over and a cop will ruin you with 1000 tickets.
11-12 second CRX on the street = a good time
9 second CRX on the street = baaaaaad
Just IMO, though... you wanna try it have fun losing your liscence and 9 second CRX to the county or state. I'm sure they'll get $5000 for it at auction. You wanna spend a lot of $$ and time on your car? Put the K-Block in and put some moderate boost on it. It won't be a 9 second car but you'll roast mostly everything on the street.

even if were talkin 9.999.. in fwd will require lots of tire and up in the 3 bar map sensors range of boost, along with huge injectors whos smallest pulse width might still be too rich for emissions. a stand alone ignition and a manifold that uses say 2 sets of 550's where the second set fades in at X rpm would be the best solution.
making it incredibly light and rear wheel drive would drop the horsepower requirements significantly. if it were my goal, i would build a tube chassis that is free of compromise and restrictions to begin the project.
there are clutches similar to the ones used in prostock whos clamping force increases with load i believe.. they would be much more wild street car friendly.
im not saying dont try it or that it cant be done. but i do think youll either run out of money or go fast enough to be happy before you break through the tens. run out of money usually comes first for most of us. besides, what does an 11 second street car have left to prove?

first off he meant a car able to hit 9's at the track not on the street. I have friends who have low 10's car's and capible of 9's that daily drive there car. second on the street your boost is down on the strip your boost is up. so you won't lite them up as bad. second you can use drag radicals. (street legal). everybody needs to stop being *******. it is very possible. your average 11-12 second turbo b16 crx or hatch is really a high 13 low 14 second car in the streets because of traction. trust me I know.
or you can get hondata with datalogging and tune yourself. use about 850cc injectors with get the fuel pumping enough. use a twin disc clutch from clutchmasters. if you do that you can space out the pressure plate right and run stock axles. your ignition can just be msd digital 6 with retard, 2-step, max rev.
tuning your own car would get rid of hte emissions. mike_belben@yahoo.com you don't know what your talking about. go away. my friend Courtney Green has a high 9 second 1995 civic hatch that he dialy drives. he won fwd fast sport compact in las vegas and ponoma and maybe LA i haven't heard yet. so lay off the kid.

this may not be what you're looking for but something awd like a 1g dsm or evo would be more to your liking for 9 or 10 sec territory..there's less of a need to run slicks, so it'd still be fast on the street. i've heard "stories" about street driven 10 second civics, and they're really not that driveable.
i'm still a n00b so this is just my 2 cents
