Default Should I fight this focking ticket?

I got a nice little belated birthday present from the local police this morning. My birthday was a few days ago, and my tags expired. Not even thinking about it, I had forgot to get them renewed but at any rate, I'm out this morning for some coffee and of all the luck, a police car gets behind me at a stoplight. He runs my plate and sees its expired, and pulls me over a minute or two later. Shiat!!!

Anyways, this focking thing is $90!! Thats more than the last focking speeding ticket I got! I wanted to ask him why it costs more for me to accidentally forget to renew my plate than it does for me to speed around endangering lives, but I held back.

Is this thing worth fighting, or should I just write the check. Dont these cops have better things to do?????? I dont mind them pulling over speeders, but couldnt he give me a warning for something as stupid as this?!?!??!

I'd get the new tags and show the judge or cops. man, 90bux is highway robbery!

I know in California, its just a fix-it ticket. Fix it and they will dismiss it (plus $10)

fix it first, then try to get a court date - let us know how it goes

Get it fixed and go to court!! It should be dismissed by the time it gets to court.

$90, Thats pretty silly for that small of a violation.

Same thing happened to me -
I was having problems getting mail to my house though, so I just showed up on the court date and told the prosecutor I had been having problems getting mail and never got my renewal info (we can renew online) but that I had gotten the tags renewed since. He said "fine" and let me go without a fine. (of course it may have helped that I had a letter from the local usps postmaster stating I had problems getting mail)

But yeah, fight it, it's at least worth it to show up and give it a try.

I just paid $73 for a fvcking NO FRONT PLATE ticket. It *used* to be a fix-it-ticket, but now they just charge you.

My luck with the law has been pretty bad the last month.

actually, they DO have better things to do, but do you want to know why ANY cop who sees this will pull you over? (YES, there is logic to this)

The kind of people (yes, generalization, but it's true) that drive around w/ expired tags are the kind of people that don't pay other tickets/fines, which mean they have a warrant for an arrest...it's an easy way to kill 2 birds w/ one stone...although after running your plates/DL#, he could have seen this wasn't the case and been easier on you...
