Default prospeed header questions

ive read the majority of the threads that came up when i searched but it left me with some questions, im gonna pm prospeed and ask him

i have a 99 lude type sh and am really interested in pickin up this header with the stamp collecter and the ss upgrade but ive heard that most high performance headers lean out your motor
can i correct this with a vafc or would i end up needing a fpr?

im also gonna guess that im gonna need a bigger cat to bolt up to the header, what about the flexpipe?

From what I've read/heard, the Prelude runs a bit rich above VTEC, so you wouldn't have to richen it up. If anything, if you are only mildly modded (bolt-ons), you'd want to lean it out a little with any type of fuel controller.

My experience is with Type R's, and they ran very rich above VTEC. Even with i/h/e/cam gears/pulleys, I still leaned out the car anywhere from 3-5% above VTEC.

You can richen it up with a VAFC but really to figure out what AF ratio you are running you should get it dyno tuned ASAP.

That header will lean your car out alot.. the VAFC does the same thing as an FPR would do and more. you don't need both, just get the VAFC. i recommend the V.1 with buttons over the new one. that joystick feature on the V.2 can easily move in the wrong direction

PM=IM on honda-tech.. its one of the options under someone's username on the left.. and you can check it under My Profile and Instant Message History. but oh yah i was asking es-squared if he had dynoed because he claimed his car was running rich. a while back 98TypeSH said that it makes you run dangerously lean w/o tuning.. is that all across the rpm band or just in high rpms?

If you are not getting any pms, turn off your popup blocker for this site and check your security firewall.

I installed my header. I am running rich as fu*k. Well according to my a/f guage. Im gonna hit the dyno this weekend. Sweet header it even gave my exhuast a more deep tone. It used to be really raspy now it sounds sick.

let me explain what he PM'd you about. im sure that i will hit this right on the nail.

Brian (prospeed) is a horrid business man. yes he has good products that yes, produce good power. BUT he is horrible at customer service. it took him 2 months to get me my header initally. now he has it again becuase it was not correct. it has been over a month since he has had it and honestly i do not see him returning it anytime soon if ever.

would i buy from him ever again? HELL NO!
will i support his name? HELL NO!
will i discourage anyone i can from buying from him? you're damn right!

guess what. Kteller8 (www.kteller.com) works with Ragedzine. rage is the maker of the Prospeed / AN-R / Eriks racing header as well as the redesigned Kteller "rage" Header. Kteller has better service as well.

in fact PM RageDzine (if you figure out how to use it) and ask him who you should buy it through.

Rage
Kteller
Prospeed

Hmm when i ordered my header i sent payment. Then i recieved the header within a week. I was really happy with the time it took him to get it too me. He also answered all my questions about the isnstall. I would have bought ktellers header but he released his line of headers right after i payed for my prospeed header. I hope you get your header back soon that must suck especially if your seeing downtime bc of it.

damn that sucks about your header....

but, you need to look at this realistically....from what i gather, brian is pretty much it, i mean he doesnt really have a company or a bunch of people to take care of **** for him....between r/d in designing, and making all these headers and not to mention all the other stuff he does....im sure he has a lot on his platter to take care of.....

so i cant say that its good to have bad customer service...duh...but i am saying that he makes a good header and you should still consider it, but that wasnt the point of this thread, the point was what he will need to do to get a prospeed header to work.....

no, you look at it realistically dude. he contracts everything out. the header is 100% rage design. prospeed just says, oh, YOU make it this thick and ill charge this much. thats it. then rage calls and says hey dude, they are ready for pick up. and then prospeed goes and gets them at HIS convienence. there are threads on this board showing that he has had headers sitting at the shop waiting to be picked up but hasnt.

as far as him being the only person. its not my fault, or anyone elses fault that he takes on too much business or is too ******* lazy to go and fufill his obligations.

the point is that he can go through alternate vendors for the same product.

I agree. screw bad/shady service. Being realistic means doing business according to what business demands.

Go to rage or kteller for the curly header. I was following mike on his new and improved erick/prospeed/anr and it seems like a great deal.

wow, i had no idea rage makes them, i knew he helped design it or something, but i thought brian like took everything over....haha i guess thats a misconception, my bad on the ignorance there....

now that i see this my views are starting to turn me the away from liking him.....but then dyno sheets jump out of nowhere and pull my *** back....

No issues and no sign of wear on the rocker arms yet.
