87 civic si winter beater, temp and idle?
This is my first 80's honda, picked it up for $500 to drive this winter. For the most part it runs very well. I just have a few questions and yes I searched.
Some times when the car is warm and idling the temperature will slowly increase, it never gets to the point where its in the red but some times it gets damn close. I checked and the fan is turning on, also tried to make sure there was no air in the coolant system. Maybe I'll flush it if I can't figure this out. Or is this normal? Should I even be worrying about this?
As for my idle, this is also only an issue when the car is warm and it doesn't happen all the time. Some times it will idle violently, I had a vacuum leak on my b18 and the idle was rocking, in this car it is 100 times more violent and makes it difficult to drive in low rpms when this happens. So I was thinking it might be the IAC or maybe even my MAP, which is more likely? Any other suggestions? I'm confused since it doesn't happen all the time.
I'm not even sure which engine is in here, I think it's a D15A3, I'll have to check it again.

id flush the radiator system, get a new cap, and thermo. the idle may be the dist. or the throttle body sticking. that could be a number of things. have you done a tune up on it yet?
