so my 87 accord (with an 88 engine) is laughing in my face. sometimes just idling, the rps will start to go up, then down...and it's not just the dial, the engine is actually reving and slowing down. does anyone know why it's doing this? bad starter coil? i tried searching the forum and couldn't find anything. any help would be apriciated.

secondly, i was wondering if anyone had a diagram of the vaccum lines for the accord (88 engine i guess...) i want to see if mine is hooked up properly. thanks for the help

 

Most likely you have a vacuum leak or a problem in the carb.

i had the same problem w/ my 89 lxi a few years back. the easiest thing to do is replace all the vacuum lines. you can find replacement silicone hose kits for around 20 bucks ( i used a nokya kit ) and it took about 2 hours to replace all the vacuum lines. after this the car ran noticably smoother and took care of idle/rev problem. hope this helps your dilemma
