Default Tilton twin disc clutch ??'s

ok, this is a picture of another members car on this site, but my clutch line is just about the same setup as this one pictured. please take a look at the length of the line, placement, etc. and than read my problem below the picture and see if you think that the clutch line could possibly be my problem? i have a brand new slave cyl that i just put on when the car was being finished up.

after driving the car for a bit, the clutch seems to not enguage/disengauge like it would when i "first" drive the car. it seems as though the fluid in the line gets hot and doesnt work as well as when its not being run(hours on end). also i think the longer stainless line will expand/contract when pushing the clutch in, and that also make the clutch not enguage/disenguage fully.

i think a hardline(stock) and a replacement stainless braided hose would work better for our applications. any thoughts/comments?

cliff notes.

cold car- good clutch endgauge disenguage

after driving- clutch seems to get real touchy, and makes the car hard to get into gear at high rpm's(9,000)

well tilton sells a release bering kit with new master cylinder that keeps the pressure in the line. maybe that can be part of the problem.

are you sure you have a air free system??

And you do have the tilton throw out bearing kit with the tilton master cyl on the car right?

Sounds like there could possibly be a small leak somewhere? Does it go back to normal after it cools down? I've done a bunch like that, all braided line, and never had a problem.

i had problems with my tilton twin, i was running stock slave and stock master..

my fluid would heat up and destroy the master cyclinder..

im not sure if it was the heat or if it was the pressure from the clutch.

yes, it seems to shift smoother when the car is cooler.

possible that the added heat from the stainless line being directly on the engine as opposed to being routed on the firewall, than down the framerail ?????

im using a factory honda master, and a modified throwout bearing(cut the plastic) so it dont hit the fingers on the pressure plate.

You have a leak at the stock slave or the line.
Check for any pin sized holes on the rubber part of the slave cyl if not that give the slave a good lookover.
I bet it leaks..

exactly like tony said it sounds like there might be a leak in the line. it might be so minuet that it might not be leaking enough for fluid to be noticeable. it could just be forming an air pocket in the line.

also i have noticed when switching to a line like yours that bleeding the line does take a good amount of time.

the last kit i ordered they told me to go with the master cylinder kit. cause it slef adjust the throw out bearing and also keeps the pressure at a constant level. i just dont know off the top of my head what that psi is.
