balance shaft oil leak? 1990 accord- replace with new gear plate?
Does the balnce shaft gear driven plate ever leak oil. Slight oil leak can't find; belt was dry but wet on balancer gear driven plate screws.
Replaced the oil pump seal about 10.000 mile ago; never changed the crank seal- doesn't look wet. Tore it apart again after seeing slight drop under timeimg cover and oil pan seems wet. Worried this could be a leaking seal. I know of the oil pump, crank and camshaft seal but all looked dry.- although it is a slight- 1 qt to 2500 miles- 125.000 on car. But does anyone ever replace the balance shaft gear driven plate "O" Ring, and there must be a seal on that plate.
Should I buy a new gear driven plate and replace the o ring?
ANybody have any experience here???

Would be interesting to see what others say, as I had same oil leak from balancer shaft seal. When broke it all down seems that it was the only spot. Both belts were dry but the leak ran down from that seal. There is a rubber O-ring gasket for it. I bouth the full lower end kit. So did all, front & Rear main seals/Water Pump seal/Balancer shaft seals/Oil pan/bearings/belts.
Figured while I was in there would just do it all the first time that way not have to rip it all down again later.

Just came back from buying that O ring. Talked to the guys at A&H motorsport- asked them if they ever sold many of these (ie Balance shaft gear case) They told me that they stock the o ring and they have replaced them a feow times.
I hate to tear this thing apart again. I was going too replace replace gear assembly. Can't really understand the o ring going bad unless it was disturbed.
Anyhow, I am going to replace the O ring, and Pan Gasket. Not ready to pull the engine or tranny yet to get the rear main.
As for the ac, I found out today that`my power steering pump is just about seized up. Can hardly turn. The belts had been screaming for a long time- I remember tightening them down. Thinking back now the squeek was probably due to the stupid pump going bad.
Thanks for all the posts. I was wondering if anybody tried to replace the pulley while on the car- just pulled back enough to get it off? possible??
