i need a sub for my civic woohoo
yea ok so im not really looking to spend much...maybe within a 1xx$ range...it doesnt have to sound great, but i would like some bass boost...guess i need an amp too...the rears dont cut it for me. i got a lot of suggestions...but sound isnt my primary concern w my car, would just be nice. i wanna spend no more than 200$ for the whole thing...i dunno jack **** about sound systems, so u can help.
For a sub install, you will need:
Enclosure, amplifier, wiring (and I'm hoping an aftermarket headunit).
Now are you saying no more than $200 for all of that?
Am I also to understand that you don't care much for Sound Quality, and would rather it get LOUD?
How large a woofer can you use? (Sizes vary from 8/10/12/15/18 generally) Also, how large an enclosure (cubic feet)?
Quite difficult... but you need to decide a few of those things first...
Also, if you don't plan on getting decent speakers, a nice sub is a waste anyway, so I actually WOULD go cheap on it (Loudest for the dollar).

he is right, in the end, a sub adds a lot of extra stuff with equals.. money, but so does an Amp, ... If you do not have an amp for your system already, try installing an amp that is mached to the power ratings of your speakers, perhaps get a 5 channel, so you can add a sub later... But, I think you will find the bass you need with an amp, I did, but I eventually got a sub just to round it out and put less stress on my speakers.
This is all assuming your headunit and speakers are not stock... if they are... well, get a nice new head, it will give you better sound than stock head with power hungry after market ones. When in doubt, always make sure you have enough.. but not too much power, it is the most important in clarity, and fullness.. as well as speaker health.

Do you have a hatch or a trunk? If you have a hatch you wont need as much in regards to the sub. I have something for sale that might help

Go for the Pioneer TS-W33c sub on ebay. You can get it for under $40 shipped. It's a 450w sub that is truely amazing for that price. I have two in an accord sedan, and it fits the purpose wonderfully. Build the box yourself, it will teach you a lot about wiring and what makes one box better than another. (just make sure to use MDF not Particle board)
