you clutch shouldnt "grind"

does your clutch slip?
does this only happen at high rpms?
try double clutching, does it still grind?

Only two things cause this situation. Your clutch is not disengaging properly, or you have worn syncros in the tranny.

worn syncro means between gear changes it'll be rougher, you cna hear the gears rubbing against each other and it'll make this small grinding noise,

basically you'll need to get new syncro for the tranny, but not for all the gears, just for the gears that are grinding.

sounds like you have a screwed syncro, did you happen to mis shisft at high reve or anything like that and grind the gears a bit? if so, then you most likely screwed up your syncro, it's a common problem on f and h series engines.

Whens the last time you flushed your transmission fluid? If its been a while you might want to go ahead and try that and use some of the GN syncromesh

what I mean is, before it started grinding from first to second, did you mis-shift oneday and grind the gears? or like dind't put it into gear right etc?

but yea from what it sounds like changing the tranny oil won't help, it sounds like you're syncro is gone, coz syncros help to smoothen out every gear change hence no metal grinding, just smooth sliding gear change, and so now since that you are grinding between first and second, most likely the syncro has just ended it's life.

ok youve got a bad synchro... i have no idea as far as rebuilding a tranny... you could find another one, or have someone rebuild it for you.
