Default Carbureted Teggy

guys i came up on another realization...me and my boys have been workin on a ef9 with b16 and basically the whole wiring and computer is pissing me off. so i was wondering if you guys know of any b series engines that have been converted to a carboretor instead of the normal fuel injection. please don any body go crazy saying how stupid i am for wanting to switch to carbureted setup. i researched the whole concept of carburetors and i think i will have an easier time tuning(if u disagree dont say anything) since i dont have to deal with all those ****** 02 sensors and such. ohh yeah and if you guys know of the old *** skyline that used to race in japan(the 4banger skyline way back then)...wow that **** sounded like a little tiny jet plane...i want that sound...hehehe

so if you guys know anything about carbureted bseries motors please let me know.

thanks in advance

Mikuni makes some side draft carbs i beleive. An old buddy of mine had them on his LS motor back in the mid 90's. he revved it up to 10000 rpms on the stock block(he said, but i think it was more like 9000). Steph put them for him when Honda Pro was still around. How many of the kiddies remember that shop.

first off, let me give you a big for the idea. there's nothing wrong with carbs!! but you may have to get a custom intake manifold. and you would have to remove the sensors & injectors and plug the holes. you will need to find out how much flow you'll need. "bigger is better" doesn't necessarily apply to carbs, especially when dealing with a small motor.

damn, I can find all kinds of info about changing from a carburetor to EFI, but going the other way has me stumped! I'm sure someone else has done this, but don't expect to order a kit online. but the older [late 70s, early 80s] hondas had carburetors ... perhaps some things could be interchanged/adapted?

and [not to dissuade you] I can understand your frustration with wiring/computer, but there are a lot of people on here with a lot of different combinations/setups. I'm sure someone can help you get it sorted if you want to stay injected.

good luck!

yeah i have been searching alot...i know inlinefour.com is selling a manifold with carburetors and the jets but i still want to know anyone's experience on converting EFi to carburetor. i seen a car on hondatuning mag but i dont remember which one i saw. so if any one else out there got any inputs in this concept please feel free to say whatever eventhough i sed in the beginning i dont want to hear any contradictions to my idea.

Well some people may confuse Individual throttle boddies to be carbs, and I can see how that would be. May that be the case, since i have not heard of any carb hondas in the last 15 years

stay fuel injected. going carbs is like going backwards if the car is fuel injected to begin with. carbs are a lot more tempermental to work with.

I don't like the idea myself. Thats a serious downgrade. You'll need to have some sort of manifold made for you. And what about a distributor? How will you regulate advance without an ecu? I don't know if there is a mech or vacuum advance carb made that will fit a b16 or mag for that matter. I don't know if a b16 dist. can function without use of an ecu. And if you will be running an ecu to run just the distributor wouldn't it be worth while to just figure out the rest of the wiring since you would already be going that far to figure out how to run your ignition system. Not hating on your idea, just disagreeing with it. But good luck if thats what you decide to do. And if so let us know how it runs, and what you did to make it run.

i remember a while back honda tuning had an article about a guy building carbed f and h series motors. he was making made power for a pure drag engine. don't know how effective it would be on the street.

stroke it and carbourate it , with 12.5-1 compression. youll be making mad horsepower n/a its been done before..

yup this is the kind of attitude i like.hahaha but i know i will have to get something from msd and a standalone ecu for the dizzy.after all that is done my sensor will be replaced by meters. the manifold for this project of mine can be found in inlinefour.com and at the moment im stil trying to figure out how im going to control my spark and the dizzy. im trying to learn as much as i can so when its time to do it, i wont be stuck in a nut shell...but thanks for evryone's input i will let ppl noe how it turns out when i get this show on the road.

get a JDM DC1 Teg ZX that used a ZC motor with dual Keihin carbs and try and retro fit everything onto the b series, it will mean re-drilling the intake manifold, but it may be possible. The Zx came with an ECU for timing and fueling (to a certain extent) I have no idea how difficult it would be to perform this conversion and i dont know where you you would even start looking for tech info on it!
