Carbon Fiber Overlays, How to do them, and what to use?
Hey, i see the very informative DIY carbon fiber thread, and i don't feel like trying to thread jack it, because its not going in the direction of my question.... ANYWAYS...
I want to do some simple carbon fiber overlays on my parts, like door panels for example. Can i just put resin on my smooth sanded door panel, throw down a layer of carbon fiber, and then resin on top of that, and call it a day? I understand that it is more involved than that, but i don't want to invest in mold making and vacuum bagging, etc. I am more concerned about appearance than the structural integrity of the part. My car is going to be all show, its got some go too but its not going to get much abuse.
What kind of resin am i looking at if this is possible? Is there a special kind i need for carbon fiber, and to adhere it to my door panels? Can anyone send me a link to the specific materials i need? and can anyone point me in the right direction if there is one?
I am DEFIANTLY a n00b in the carbon fiber/fiberglass area, but i have big plans for my car, and i want to get them done.
As always, I appreciate any help i can get from the all knowing H-T members.

Your on the right track with overlaying (aka laminating). You wont need a mold and the need to vacuum bag is very rare. Ive use our vacuum bag maybe once in the last 2 years. PM me for a tip that will save you a ton of time.
Yeah can you post the info on here? I would like to experiment with Carbon Fiber also and hoping in the near future to overlay my stock sideskirts with carbon fiber.
