99 accord wont idle.
On the wayto work this morning the car stalled at a light. After a bit of cursing the car restarts but wont idle. the engine light is not flashing, the car seems to have the same amount of power just wont idle. I replaced the PCV valve about 20k miles ago. 99 accord vtec 2.3l 190k miles. I figure idle control solenoid, but thought I would ask here. I dont have a scanner yet. Anybody seen this problem yet?
Does it only die once the car is warmed up or will it die with the car cold too? This can make a difference as to your trouble shooting. Also does it run rough then die or just fall flat on its face once at idle speed?
When I went out at lunch it died the first stop I came to. If I give it just a little bit of gas I can make it idle and it sounds/runs normal. If I am coming to a stop throw the clutch in the rpm drops normally and for a fraction of a second it tries to idle normally but the rpm's keep dropping to maybe 200 rpm, it will lope along for a second and then dies.
Sounds like you IAC valve going bad. You will need to replace it, its located ont he back of the intake mani. it has a couple of hoses going to it and a plug with 3 wires.
turn the idle screw counter clockwise. Its located on the throttle body and uses a flat head screw driver to adjust. Go here for more help http://www.ef-honda.com/ben/Badidle.html
Took off the IAC valve and cleaned it up all nice an purty put it back together and it still has the same problem. So I spent $170 for a new one still no go. Now I'm getting scared it is the PCM ($571). From what the Haynes manual says the PCM has the codes for the immobilizer system, which means the dealer has to reprogram it? I verified 12volts and gnd are getting to the connector, but I dont know what the control signal should be. There are no DC volts on the control line. Does anybody know what the control signal is?
Same thing happened to my friend's integra...turned out his fuel injectors were bad, might want to check them out.....his car would start too but wouldnt idle, so after he started it up he had to keep gasing it to keep the car from dying on him

Hey did you try turning the idle screw counterclockwise on the throttle body. I know if thats too tight its will bog the car not letting it idle.I highly doubt its your pcm so save your money. Its probably that idle screw it has a plastic cover over it. Its a flat head check it out. Let me know if that doesnt work.
That worked. Does this mean the TB is getting plugged up? Do I need to take it off and give it a gumout bath? A whole lot cheaper then $571 for the PCM. Thanks for the help.
